The Radical Acceptance Healing House project is a groundbreaking residential program tailored for mature women facing homelessness for the first time. This initiative adapts established evidence-based services to provide solution-oriented support, with the goal of making a meaningful and lasting impact on their lives. Many women find themselves in this difficult situation due to a range of factors, with financial devastation from divorce frequently serving as a major catalyst. We are committed to a future in social services that prioritizes a holistic approach in all our offerings.
Frightening Facts
Approximately 653,104 people experienced homelessness on a single night in January 2023. This is more than a 12.1 percent increase over the previous year and 255,060 are women.
Women constitute a smaller proportion of the total homeless population; however, the incidence of homelessness among women is increasing. Since 2022, homelessness among women has risen by 12.1 percent, and since 2015, it has increased by 11.4 percent, with the most significant rise observed among individual women. Although fewer women are homeless compared to men, this upward trend raises significant concerns, particularly because women face a heightened risk of harassment and assault, a danger that is intensified by living outdoors.
